An Unsolicited Post
Was feeling an emotion that I can't describe about not having blogged for time immemorial until I read Charlie's post from the beginning of this month. Our reasons differ - but that's not the point. I suspect the feelings are much the same. For me a sort of "I've let you down" feeling. Well I changed jobs some months back and threw myself wholeheartedly into the change - because I'm like that. And the break has done me good. I've spent more time with my family, more time reading, and more time being.
Here are some things I've decided:
1. If I review anything here it's going to be unsolicited. Unless I really, really wanted to read, listen to, or use it in the first place. I am still getting emails from people wanting me to review books I wouldn't spend five minutes on in a bookstore, and still getting emails from people I've never heard of wanting me to link their blog. But that goes to number 2 below.
2. If you don't read my blog don't ask me to link yours. In particular, don't send me emails pretending that you read and like my blog when you only visited it once to get an addy to send your link request to. Let's just say that I have a sitemeter and I can see when you came and how within two minutes of landing you emailed me gushing about how you love reading my blog and could I link you. I still get emails like this.
3. I started a blog because I could write as little or as much as I want whenever I want. I write more when I remember that, and less when I get conscious of the "reading public". At this point that probably will be about 5 people due to my absence, and this paradoxically makes me grin and feel really very happy. I love all five of you.
That's enough for today. Coming up expect to hear about Amy Winehouse, my cats, my latest gadget, and whatever else. And the President of Sudan has been accused of war crimes. That's long overdue.
